More golf clubs have now reopened to the general public with strict safety measures in place.

Rickmansworth Golf Club, located on Moor Lane, opened its doors this week (May 19) as a move to give players a chance of fresh air and exercise during the coronavirus lockdown period.

To ensure social distancing at the course, players can only play with members from the same household or one member from another household – while maintaining a 2m distance.

Customers are advised to book online before attending the course, but all payments must be made online and cash will not be accepted.

Everyone Active and Three Rivers District Council have also introduced rules at the course such as players must wait in the car until the first tee clears, and they are encouraged to follow ‘slow play’ regulations.

John Sewell, the Everyone Active area contract manager, has said that with these strict regulations in place, it is important that everyone remains “vigilant and considerate” to other players.

Cllr Chris Lloyd, the lead member for leisure, environment and community at Three Rivers District Council, said: “I am pleased that Rickmansworth Golf Course can reopen with social distancing measures in place.

“This will allow residents of Three Rivers the opportunity to get out for some fresh air, exercise, and help with their wellbeing.

“I reiterate the sentiments of John and Everyone Active and ask that everyone using the golf course remember to stay alert to control the virus and save lives.”

The Grove golf course has also reopened this week (May 20) with similar safety measures in place.

Golfers are told to book sessions in advance, and to arrive at the course no more than 20 minutes prior to the reserved tee time.

The Grove will keep its Halfway House open, but services will be take-away only, and payments must be made through card.

Last week, May 13, other clubs reopened for members only including the West Hertfordshire, Chorleywood and Aldenham golf clubs.

Colin Chesterman, the men’s captain at Chorleywood Golf Club said it brought a smile to his face to return to the course and play a game.
