Police have said two men who were arrested by armed officers have been released with no further action.

Armed police swarmed a Borehamwood housing estate on Friday afternoon after a member of the public reported they had seen an altercation involving a knife.

The incident reportedly happened in Stirling Way at around 1.10pm.

As a result of the call, Hertfordshire Constabulary attended the scene and carried out a search of the area for potential suspects.

On Friday afternoon, the force said that two men had been taken into police custody in connection with the incident.

This week, police provided an update on the status of those detained.

A spokesperson for the police said: "Just before 1.10pm on Friday (May 1) police received a third party report of an altercation in Stirling Way, Borehamwood, where a knife was allegedly seen. "Officers from the BCH Armed Policing Unit attended the area and two men were arrested in connection with the incident.

"Enquiries were carried out and no victims were identified or offences disclosed. The two men were subsequently released with no further action."
