The wife of a motorcyclist who died in Shenley this week says he helped give her many "beautiful memories" describing him as the "love of her life".

Father-of-two Adam Gawronski died in Green Street, Shenley, on Monday afternoon, after the bike he was riding collided with a van.

An air ambulance and several ambulances rushed to the scene but Mr Gawronski, who lived in Shenley, sadly died at the scene.

The 47-year-old, leaves behind his wife, Agata, and their two daughters who are aged nine and three.

He had his own building business but for the last three weeks, he had been working at a Tesco Express store in Southgate, north London.

Agata told the Times: "The love of my life, the man that gave me two amazing girls and lots of beautiful memories, lost his life on April 20 in a motorbike accident.

"Motorbikes were his other huge love and a big part of his life. The accident happened just steps away from our home in Shenley."

Borehamwood Times:

Adam Gawronski was married to Agata and was a father of two daughters

Agata has spoken about her and her family's love for Shenley, and says she is "truly blessed to be a part of the amazing community".

She said: "Knowing that it [the accident] happened here [in Shenley] makes me feel a bit calmer.

"We always loved Shenley and it was our dream to be able to move there one day. Three years ago, we finally made our dreams come true.

"We bought our home in Shenley with hope for a better life. It feels like Shenley is our place on Earth - it feels like home. We are truly blessed to be a part of this amazing community."

Agata's close friend, Maria Stachowska, has also paid tribute to Mr Gawronski and his family.

She said: "Our families met over three years ago on holiday in Miami. From the first moment, we felt like we knew each other for a long time.

"Both of our families have two girls and they are exactly the same age. Ever since we came back to the UK we have stayed close. All the birthday parties, weekends away feel like it was just meant to be that we ever met.

"When Agata told us what had happened, we felt truly devastated."

To help support her friend, Mrs Stachowska set up a fundraising page to help cover funeral costs and support the family. Within 24 hours, more than £2,000 had been raised.

Mrs Stachowska added: "The power of people is amazing. I would love to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated or shared the page. I am blown away with all the support and generosity of people.

"Hopefully it will be one less worry for Agata in these sad moments."

The bike crash in Green Street happened at around 4.30pm on Monday.

It involved a black BMW RR1000 motorcycle, being ridden by Mr Gawronski, and a Blue Transit Connect van.

Mr Gawronski was fatally injured, and the driver of the van remained at the scene.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

PC Felicity Moody, of the serious collision investigation Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the victim’s family at this very sad time.

"I would appeal for anyone who witnessed what happened, has relevant dash cam footage or believes they saw either vehicle prior to the collision to make contact with us."
