A SOUTHAMPTON pub which underwent a £400,000 revamp is back on the market less than a year after reopening.

The doors of the Regents Park in Shirley are now firmly shut due to coronavirus, according to owner, Star Pubs & Bars.

However, the vast mock-Tudor building can be leased for £46,750 annually with the pub chain looking for a “friendly, community orientated operator”.

It had previously been leased by the Healy Group.

According to Star which is owned by the Heineken brewery the Regents Park is in superb condition throughout.

On its website it is described as a family and dog-friendly pub, serving good food with a wide range of wines, spirits and premium beers.

It hosted live entertainment fortnightly, and has a sports area with pool and darts board, along with five screens which show Sky Sports & BT Sports.

A spokesperson from Star Pubs & Bars said: “The Regent’s Park closed last Friday due to Covid-19.

“The previous landlords ran a managed estate employing a number of different landlords across their estate who they would have deployed according to their own operational requirements.

Daily Echo:

“We’re very keen to reopen the pub once Government guidelines allow for this to happen and will put temporary management in place until we have found a long-term operator to take the pub forward.

As previously reported by the Daily Echo a formerly neglected pub which has had a £1million investment could not reopen last weekend due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The Lapstone in Horton Heath closed its doors in 2017 and according to new owner, Russ Kitching, it was going to be knocked down to make way for 20 new houses.

The businessman says the building has been a pub for 200-years.

However, it had been neglected and not been refurbished since the 1960s.

With an investment of over £1m, the watering hole will be managed by an unnamed local husband and wife team.

The new venture will create around 20 new jobs but because of the global health crisis, its opening day has been pushed back provisionally to the first week of April.
