Re|Floyd, one of the country’s finest Pink Floyd tribute acts, will visit the Black Barn at Forty Hall on Saturday, February 8, promising to cover songs from all of Floyd’s hit albums with pinpoint accuracy and outstanding vocals.

The seven-piece band, who have received rave reviews, formed three years ago and aim to recreate the atmosphere as well as the unique sound of a Pink Floyd gig.

Saturday’s show represents the first live appearance of the current line-up which now includes two female back-up singers.

Founder and lead guitarist Tony Hayter, who at 62 has an uncanny resemblance to Dave Gilmour, explained how the band first came together.

“I’ve been playing the guitar since I was eight even though I didn’t join my first band until I was 40,” said Tony. “I basically grew up with Pink Floyd. You could say I was a Floyd freak and always wanted to have my own tribute band. When I was 59, I managed it!

“We sort of hit the ground running. At our very first rehearsal, even though we were all strangers, we played five tunes almost flawlessly.”

Although there have since been a number of personnel changes, with saxophone no longer featured, Hayter says the new line-up represents the best Re|Floyd ever.

“There are three things you need in a Pink Floyd tribute band to make it work properly. You need a Dave Gilmour-type, you need a Richard Wright on keyboards and you need a really good lead singer. I like to think we have all three – and more.”

You also, of course, need an evocative light show and this, says Tony, will be one of Saturday’s special highlights, a skilfully programmed spectacle that will envelop the Black Barn stage and enhance the two-hour set.
