PART of Devizes Market Place was closed this morning after ambulance, fire and police crews were called to The Dolphin pub.
Fire crews helped paramedics get a patient out of the building and into an ambulance.
A spokesman for Devizes police said: "We closed Northgate Street in Devizes while we deal with an incident in the town centre this morning.
"Officers were called at approximately 6.40am following a report that a man had been found requiring urgent medical attention at a property in the road.
"The fire service attended to assist in the safe removal of the patient and he has been taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath by ambulance.
"At this early stage, it is not yet known whether a crime has taken place and we will be conducting enquiries this morning to determine the circumstances which led to this man falling unwell."
The road re-opened later in the morning.
