A WOMAN was kicked in the head by another woman during an assault outside the Branksome Liberal Club in the early hours of New Year's Day.

Dorset Police have only just issued an appeal for witnesses following the attack, which unfolded outside the Salisbury Road venue around 1.40am.

The victim, in her 50s, was reportedly involved in an altercation in the club's car park, before another woman, aged in her early 20s, began to kick her to the ground on the road outside the club.

It was at this point, investigators say, that the victim was kicked in the head.

She sustained a slight concussion and bruising as a result of the assault, police say.

Today, Police Constable Cara Bradley, of Dorset Police, said: "We are continuing to investigate the assault and are making enquiries to identify the woman responsible.

"I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information that might assist our investigation to please contact us."

The offender was in her early 20s, around five feet seven inches, slim build and with long, dark, curly hair.

She was wearing a polo neck jumper and a tartan skirt.
