In November, as the General Election approached, an iconic heritage wall was spoiled by offensive political graffiti.

Someone scrawled 'F*** the Tories' on the wall at Elstree & Borehamwood station in what looked like a politically-motivated slur on the Conservatives.

Station manager Marc Asamoah and Bob Redman, chairman of the First Impressions group, which is responsible for the mural, acted quickly to remove the graffiti.

The incident was condemned by both Conservatives and Labour.

Campaigners gathered in a residential street to fight plans to cut down two trees in Ely Gardens.

Borehamwood Times:

Hertsmere Borough Council says the oak trees have to go due to the subsidence damage being caused by their roots.

But Glyn Lantaff, leading the campaign to save the trees, argued campaigners have yet to see evidence from the council that the trees need removing, while Dr Dan Ozarow, also campaigning, described the trees as "beautiful".
