A vulnerable woman who went missing yesterday afternoon has been found safely.

There has been a major search for Lynne Cook, 68, who had last been seen in Shenley at around 2pm on Monday.

Police began searching the fields and footpaths between Shenley and London Colney but heavy fog hampered their search - and they were unable to send up a helicopter, but they did use drones and had the support of dog units.

A public appeal to find Lynne was launched by Hertfordshire Constabulary at around 9pm, which led to dozens of people leaving their homes to help in the search in their cars and on foot.

illagers from Shenley had already been out for some time searching for the missing woman.

The hunt for Lynne slowed down in the early hours due to the fog but resumed this morning.

Just after 9.30pm this morning (Tuesday), Hertfordshire Constabulary confirmed that Lynne has been safely located.

The force said: "Missing Lynne Cook from Shenley has been safely located and is with police. Thank you for sharing the appeal."
