April was when Watford FC reached the final of the FA Cup for the first time since 1984.

The Hornets beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-2 after extra-time, having trailed 2-0 with just over 10 minutes of regulation time remaining

However, Gerard Deulofeu snatched two goals either side of Troy Deeney’s penalty to take the team to Wembley.

Plans were submitted for a major new motorway service station off the M25 near Kings Langley.

Moto Hospitality Limited submitted an outline planning application to Three Rivers District Council for a service station on the green belt site, including a 4,560sq m building, hundreds of parking spaces and access off the A41.

Shops included fast food outlets, a cafe and a games centre, a petrol station, a drive-thru cafe and a 2,319sq m 80-bed 'lodge'.

Three Rivers district councillor Alex Michaels said residents were worried about congestion and light, noise and air pollution.

He said: “Whilst many residents can understand the need for some new homes in the area, they and I cannot see why a green belt site needs to be used for a motorway service station."

Hornets midfielder Etienne Capoue was banned from driving for three months after his Mercedes G-Wagon was clocked travelling at 116mph on the M25.

He was captured speeding on the motorway near London Colney by police who were travelling just behind him in late December.

When officers stopped the footballer he told them he was “running late” and in court his solicitor said he had been trying to get to training.
