At this time of worldwide climate crisis, it is disappointing to see how many people have put up decorative lights along the front of their houses, so using unnecessary energy at a time when we should be reducing consumption in order to cut carbon emissions.
The worst offender is Watford Council, which is burning hundreds of kilowatts of unnecessary energy with its festive decorations in the town centre, despite declaring a world climate emergency last June.
Is Christmas really more important than preventing climate change?
