A van and car have been completely destroyed following a suspected arson attack overnight.

Neighbours in Reed Close, London Colney, woke to the sound of explosions just after 3am and a white van was found well alight.

The blaze spread to two nearby cars - a black Hyundai Getz and a black Nissan Micra.

Toni said: "They were woken up by loud bangs and thought it was gunshots. They soon discovered vehicles well alight and the sounds were tyres popping.

"Forensics have been down at the scene and a police dog. They are treating it as arson. The road has been cordoned off all morning but it is now open again."

Pictures show the wreckage and fire damage inside the Nissan as well as to its exterior.

The van's bonnet is ruined and the rear of the vehicle has sunk because the tyres have deflated.
