Hundreds of campaigners from St Albans and Harpenden joined up to a million people in central London demanding a People's Vote on Brexit.

They gathered on the capital's streets for a rally on Saturday where they urged Prime Minister Boris Johnson to listen to calls for a 'final say' referendum on Britain leaving the European Union.

Holding up placards and banners, waving flags, and dressed in blue, the campaigners helped make the march one of the largest Britain has ever seen.

Fiona McAndrew is the chairman of 'St Albans for Europe', a pro-European cross party group for St Albans and surrounding areas.

She said: "For nearly three years, hard-working activists and campaigners here in St Albans and across the UK have been running street stalls, delivering leaflets, and making the case for a People’s Vote to settle the Brexit issue once and for all.

"It was great to see so many people from all walks of life together in London to demand our voices are heard."

She added: "We had a great turnout from St Albans station, and we know that dozens more travelled separately from St Albans to London. St Albans is not taking this Brexit shambles lying down and we will continue this fight for everyone, however they voted in the 2016 referendum, to be able to vote on the deal now we know what it looks like.

"Boris Johnson needs to hear loud and clear he must seek our consent before he inflicts his damaging Brexit on our country. The ‘Together for the Final Say’ march was a huge democratic moment for our country. Whatever you think about Brexit, the only way out of this mess is to give the people the final say."

Around 400 campaigners travelled from Harpenden too, including Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for Harpenden and Hitchin, Sam Collins, who says Brexit "needs to be stopped as soon as possible".
