A tree in Borehamwood has been transformed with pink and blue bows to raise awareness of baby loss.

The Hang a Memory Ribbon event began on Wednesday on the corner of Shenley Road and Furzehill Road and will end with the Wave of Light on Tuesday evening.

The event has been organised by Tina Nandha and coincides with Baby Loss Awareness Week.

In January 2016, Tina was told she had lost her baby during her second pregnancy.

Since then, she has devoted her time to raising awareness of baby loss, after experiencing how lonely it can be to suffer in silence despite knowing so many people go through the same tragedy.

Tina said: "We hope that the Hang a Memory Ribbon event will spark conversations about baby loss and give local bereaved parents and families an opportunity to talk about their precious babies."

Businesses and individuals affected by baby loss have also donated bows with all funds going to Tommy’s the Baby Charity, a charity that Tina regularly raises funds for.

The people of Borehamwood are invited to write their own message for an angel baby and hang it up on a tree.

The Memory Ribbon cards will be available from MOD Pizza, Orli in The Wood, B Kosher, Rimon, The BECC Centre & The Co-op Funeral Care.

The Wave of Light will take place on Tuesday (October 15) from 7pm to 8pm where the community is invited to light a candle in memory of an angel.
