Three people were arrested after police were granted more special powers to tackle antisocial behaviour in Borehamwood.

Police were given the power last Thursday to disperse anyone who they believed could be involved in crime or cause concern with the community.

The Section 35 order came just hours after a section 60 order was granted which gave police officers increased stop and search powers.

It was due to concerns there were people in the town carrying knives.

The section 35 order ran from 4pm on Thursday to 6am on Friday and covered the Cowley Hill ward area, Shenley Road, and Elstree & Borehamwood station.

Ten people were stopped and searched.

Hertsmere safer neighbourhood inspector Mark Bilsdon said: "These measures were taken in response to reports of suspected criminal activity taking place in certain parts of the town.

"We are pleased with the results from last week, however our work does not stop here. We will have heightened police patrols in the area, both overt and covert, and will continue to work with our local partners to find long-term solutions to the issues."
