A defunct bowls club has donated thousands of pounds to six organisations.
Borehamwood Bowls Club, which was based in Meadow Park for 61 years, has given all the money it made from selling its equipment and its remaining bank balance.
Former president Rob Martindill presented cheques to representatives of each of the organisations at an event at Borehamwood Social Club in Theobald Street on Monday evening.
The beneficiaries are Barnet Hospital Charity, Borehamwood Youth Football Club, Brookside Boys Club in Borehamwood, Bushey Bowling Club, Harperbury Bowls Club, and the SCAT Bone Cancer Trust based in Stanmore, which have all received donations of £1,500.

The bowls club dissolved after their lease at Meadow Park was terminated by Hertsmere Borough Council as part of a regeneration of the park, and the club decided against moving to new community facility at Aberford Park which opened earlier this month.
