  • A three-year-old boy has been taken to a hospital after he was hit by a vehicle in Elstree.
  • Police are appealing for witnesses following a hit-and-run in Elstree Hill North shortly after 1.35pm.
  • Hertfordshire Constabulary says the boy is in a serious but stable condition.
  • Despite an air ambulance attending, he was taken by road to a hospital.
  • Elstree Hill North has been closed for most of the afternoon - the road reopened at around 6pm following a police investigation.
  • A witness reported the boy was carried up the hill by a girl before help arrived from a nearby church and he was taken to Schopwick Surgery for treatment while waiting for paramedics to arrive.
  • The collision happened just after Schopwick Place if you are heading towards Radlett.
  • Enquiries are ongoing to trace the vehicle which is believed to have fled in the direction of Watford Road.
  • No description of the vehicle has been given yet.
