Armed police were in Borehamwood today after reports a gun was spotted during a fight.

Police were called to Thirsk Road just before 1pm today after they received a report of a number of men involved in an altercation.

The call also mentioned a gun - officers later found a starter pistol in the area.

One man was treated at the scene for a head injury but he did not need to go to hospital.

When officers arrived, including armed police and a dog unit, a search was carried out in the area and three men were detained.

A police presence remained in the area all afternoon - a cordon was in place in nearby Walshford Way and a scenes of crime officer was working at the scene alongside two police officers at around 6pm.

There was a shattering of glass in the road. It is believed the cordon has now been lifted.

• A 28-year-old man from Potters Bar has been arrested on suspicion of affray and possession with intent to supply drugs (other than Class A), a 23-year-old man from Borehamwood has been arrested on suspicion of affray and a 21-year-old man from Borehamwood has been arrested on suspicion of affray and possession with intent to supply drugs (other than Class A). All three are currently in police custody.
