Two teachers have been nominated for an award recognising the country's top mathematicians.

Tom Jones and Sam Biggerstaff, who work at The Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School in Elstree, have been shortlisted for a TES award.

The TES Schools Awards 2019 recognise the most outstanding individuals and institutions that the education sector has to offer.

Headmaster Gus Lock said: “Habs is delighted to be shortlisted for the TES Award in Mathematics. We pride ourselves on excellent teaching and learning, both inside and beyond the classroom. We are blessed to have the very best teachers and it is fitting that they are recognised in this way by being shortlisted for such a prestigious award.”

Habs Boys, which regularly tops league tables nationally and internationally, was awarded ‘The Sunday Times School of the Year 2017’ accolade and was named as one of the ‘Top 100 Cricketing Schools’ again this year by the Cricketer Magazine.

The winners will be revealed at the TES gala awards evening at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London on Friday June 21.
