If I misspelled Mr Jackson’s name I apologise unreservedly (Vote in EU elections, Letters, May 9).
Like him, I encourage everyone to vote in the MEP elections, even though we should now be free of the EU so no MEPs from Britain ought to be needed. However, voters should not expect too much from any future elections because the failure of the political class at Westminster to deliver the referendum decision shows they really do not care what we think. A good result for The Brexit Party might remind them we have spoken already on Brexit and their attempts to deny it to us are unacceptable.
Mr Jackson’s aspiration for reform of the EU has been work in progress for years: from Mrs Thatcher, through Blair to Cameron, and they all failed. The EU has always been going in a direction unsuited to us and no amount of cooperation will change that.
