An 80-year-old man had his card stolen by a thief posing as a parking officer.

Officers have released CCTV photos of a man who might be able to help with their enquiries following a theft in Borehamwood.

The incident happened in the car park of Tesco Extra in Shenley Road on Saturday, April 20.

At around 11.45am the victim was sat in his car whilst waiting for his wife who was shopping.

He was approached by a man who told him that he needed to pay for parking.

They both walked over to the cash machine and as the victim withdrew cash, the offender stole his bank cards and ran off.

Officers believe he may have been working with a second offender.

Detective Constable Ian Waldock, who is investigating, said: “We believe that the man pictured may have been in the area at the time and he could have vital information that will help us.

“I would also like to appeal for any witnesses to come forward. In particular, I would like to appeal to a member of the public who helped the victim after the offender left the scene. He might also be able to help us, so if this was you please don’t hesitate to contact us.”
