Emergency sewer works, which have been causing chaos on our roads, are expected to be completed on time.

The temporary lights in Elstree are expected to remain in place until April 2 – which means journeys between now and then will continue to be affected.

Right now, there is absolute gridlock on the roads approaching the crossroads in Elstree.

Queues in Barnet Lane from Furzehill Road, Watford Road all the way back to the A41, and in Elstree Hill both ways.

Dagger Lane is also gridlocked.

Drivers have reported being stuck in delays of more than an hour since the traffic lights were installed.

Hertfordshire County Council however has said that it is looking for a solution to the traffic chaos while the work is ongoing.

Thames Water, which is carrying out the work in Elstree village, has confirmed work is on schedule.

The area should be avoided if possible.
