Councils in north-west London are attempting to reassure EU nationals living in the region in the run-up to Brexit.

Brent Council, which caters for some 67,000 EU citizens, is holding a second event advising them of their rights once the UK breaks away from the bloc.

The event is being held at Brent Civic Centre on March 27 – two days before the country is scheduled to leave the EU.

Attendees will hear from Cllr Tom Miller, responsible for stronger communities at Brent Council, and will have the chance to question an expert panel about any concerns they hold for the future.

Cllr Miller said: “While the Brexit merry-go-round continues, our priority is reassuring all EU citizens in Brent that they are still very much valued members of our community.

“This is especially important in a borough that is home to the largest population of EU nationals in London.”

In neighbouring Harrow, the council is hosting a similar event for the borough’s Romanian population at Harrow Civic Centre on March 21.

It “will be an opportunity to hear how the British government is committed to protecting the rights of European citizens living in the UK, and about EU Settlement Scheme”.

Attendees will also have the chance to speak to Christopher Desira, a solicitor with the European Commission Representation in the UK.
