Are you a community group in need of some urgent funding?

Help may be at hand in the form of money from the council which could go some way to solving your problems.

Hertsmere Borough Council has already given away £40,000 to 49 voluntary, charitable, and non-profit organisations in the borough in 2018/19 and there will be more available in the next financial year.

The money, which is capped at £2,000, could be spent on buying equipment, upgrading facilities, training, or marketing.

Speaking about the community grant scheme, Cllr Caroline Clapper said: "I'd encourage any local group that needs a helping hand to get in touch with us to find out if they would be entitled to receive money towards organisational or project costs.

“We have received a range of community grant applications during the last financial year towards a number of projects that benefit people from across the borough.

“Increasingly, our emphasis is on helping communities to help themselves. If you are a community group or charity operating in the Hertsmere area, in need of extra funds, then now is the time to apply.”

Applications for community grants must be made by Thursday 31 May 2019.
