A road had to be temporarily closed to allow an unsafe tree to be cut down.
Shenleybury was shut between Harper Lane and the bottom of Black Lion Hill.
Hertfordshire Highways says it was to allow the emergency removal of an unsafe tree.
On Sunday, a tree fell near The Good Shephrd Church in Shenleybury. Police and highways attended to clear the tree from the road.
No one was hit by the falling tree at the weekend.
The road wasopen by 3.30pm having been closed since 10am.
Motorists were diverted via Harper Lane, Watling Street, and Radlett Lane and Uno buses 602 and 657 were on diversion via Harper Lane.
