A Kingston care home has been awarded the highest possible rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following a recent inspection.

Coombe Hill Manor, in Coombe Lane, was awarded an ‘Outstanding’ rating following the inspection on February 9, earning top marks in the fields of caring and responsiveness.

Sonya Fenwick General Manager of Coombe Hill Manor said: “I am enormously proud of the whole team.

“We strongly believe in providing exceptional care, delivered by compassionate staff. This is the resident’s home and we have the privilege to share this time with them.

“We advocate independence and encourage residents to be involved in all aspect of the home, even down to choosing the carpet.”

During January, 1,324 care and nursing homes were inspected by the CQC with results ranging from inadequate to outstanding.

Only 3.5 per cent achieved the highest result and Coombe Hill Manor in Kingston was amongst the elite few.

The CQC highlighted the good relationships between the staff and the residents in the care home.

The inspector commented that “respect and dignity for people was at the heart of the service with people and their relatives consistently saying that staff were very respectful, kind and caring.”

The home was the sixth to be built and operated by Signature Senior Lifestyle and is a bespoke building catering for all levels of care and nursing.

Residents and families are delighted with the news and have made daily comments to the team since they were awarded the excellent rating.

One resident said: “I describe Coombe Hill to friends as ‘on par with a 5 star hotel’ for its ambience, quality of facilities and the warm welcome I always receive from staff.”
