A swimming club will be taking part in the world’s biggest annual fundraiser.

Youngsters from Borehamwood Swimming Club will take to the water as part of Swimathon, an event which has raised around £50m since it began 30 years ago.

The students will take part in a 5km challenge in the pool, and comes fresh after they picked up the Fred Petty Award, a former councillor who helped put the plans in place to build a pool in Borehamwood, before it was knocked down and replaced by The Venue.

The Swimathon raises money for Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie.

It will take place between March 29 and March 31.
