Dozens of police officers rushed to Watford Junction following reports of people with knives on a train.

A service appeared to be put on lockdown on Friday night as officers swarmed the station.

A police unit has confirmed eight men were arrested on suspicion of offences including affray and possession of offensive weapons, following reports of a stabbing in another county, according to the Specials team at Hertfordshire Constabulary.

British Transport Police officers called for “urgent assistance”, and police cars and vans were spread across the station car parks, with several police officers deployed on the platforms, including those from nearby Watford police station.

Watford Observer:

It all unfolded at around 1am in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A video taken by a man on the platform shows officers calmly guarding the train doors before they enter the train and shout “Sit down, do not move” while a police dog barks loudly, just next to the train.
