A £1.7 million refurbishment has got underway at a pub in Prestwood - and is set to reopen in March.

The Polecat Inn has been taken over by a new manager and will be reopened at the end of March after a redesign.

The pub is now owned by pub group, Oakman Inns, and they are looking for 60 new members of staff.

The revamp will see a new glass-fronted restaurant added with an open theatre-style kitchen and pizza oven.

The gardens are also being given a makeover and the car park improved.

Damien Hughes, the pub's new general manager, said: "I am very excited about The Polecat’s next chapter and I think the local community is too. I’m looking forward to the next few weeks when we hold our recruitment days and start to appoint our new team and begin their training so we’re ready for the opening at the end of March."

The pub's new head chef, James Norrie, previously worked at The Betsey Wynne in Swanbourne for three years.

There will be three recruitment days in Prestwood Village Hall on February 2 (10am to 6pm), February 8 (12pm to 7pm) and February 15 (10am to 5pm).
