A new Jewish community centre is just weeks away from opening in the heart of Borehamwood.

The Jewish Life Centre, which has been funded by members of the community, is being constructed above Starbucks in Shenley Road, and has been in the planning for around four years.#

It will be accessed via Explore Learning.

Led by Rabbi Chaim and Leah Hoch, of Chabad of Borehamwood and Elstree, the community centre aims to provide a space for social events for all ages, and despite the name, all faiths.

The vision is for the centre to reach every Jewish person in Borehamwood and Elstree through classes, programmes and events for groups of any age.

The grand opening is set to take place at the end of this month.

Ms Hoch said: “We have been running events in the area for seven years but Borehamwood needs a new place like this. It is an open space and somewhere for people to pop into have a chat and have a good time. It won’t be like a synagogue.

“The centre will welcome all faiths. At Chabad, every person is welcomed with unconditional love and respect.”
