A man has been told to stop setting off fireworks during the day or face prosecution.

Hertsmere Borough Council and Hertfordshire Constabulary visited an address in Station Road, Borehamwood, on New Year’s Eve, and served a noise abatement notice.

People in Borehamwood have taken to social media in recent weeks to complain about fireworks being set off in the day, claiming that it is scaring their pets.

Legally, fireworks can be set off between 7am and 11pm.

The council confirmed it has received two complaints and says the notice was served for the discharge of fireworks.

Failure to comply could result in an unlimited fine.

A police spokeswoman said: “We attended an address in Station Road, Borehamwood on December 31 with a council officer from Hertsmere Borough Council to issue a noise abatement notice.”
