Three Rivers has the best results in Hertfordshire when it comes to recycling – according to new data.

The recycling service for Three Rivers District Council suggests people in the area achieved a 62.4 per cent recycling record in 2017/18, up from 61.9 per cent on the previous year.

This means Three Rivers has the fourth highest recycling rate in the country.

Cllr Alex Michaels, lead member for environmental services, said: “I am delighted that Three Rivers is once again one of the best councils in the country for recycling household waste. The council has continued to invest in its refuse and recycling services and has an experienced team emptying the bins and managing the service.

“Paper, card, plastics, metal, glass and food are all collected from homes every week, so residents are able to dispose of most waste without using the green residual waste bin.”

Council leader, Cllr Sara Bedford, added: “I am pleased that Three Rivers’ residents have played their part in these excellent figures. Our refuse and recycling services are highly rated by residents, who understand that reducing waste saves money and the environment.”
