The town centre will become illuminated as the Christmas lights are switched on this afternoon.

It is about to get a little more festive in Borehamwood and Elstree, when Mayor Victor Eni, alongside Boreham Wood FC, presses the magic button which will light up Shenley Road, Manor Way, Leeming Road, and Elstree High Street, at 4.30pm.

But is is not just about the lights and the Christmas tree.

Elstree & Borehamwood Town Council has lined up a host of entertainment including an ice rink, a vintage carousel, Santa’s Grotto, as well as more surprises and treats.

Primary school children will kick off the festivities with a selection of Christmas Carols at All Saints Church from 2pm.

Visitors in the town centre will be kept warm and cosy with mince pies and mulled wine, while Borehamwood Brass will play season tunes to get you all into the Christmas spirit.

Collections will be made this year for Mencap, Cllr Eni’s chosen charity.
