Virtual permits for on-street parking will be rolled out across the county at the end of the month.
The new system will be launched by Bucks County Council on October 30 and will reduce the amount of time it takes to apply for and receive a permit.
Currently it takes two weeks for a permit to be received, but the new system will allow the document to be processed immediately.
Virtual permits will be available for all types of on-street parking – apart from those who hold blue badges – and means permits will not have to be displayed by drivers.
Cabinet member for transportation at Bucks County Council (BCC), Mark Shaw, said: “This advance in technology means that it will be quicker and easier to apply for a permit, as the application process will be simplified.
“Requests for permits and any changes made to existing permits will be effective immediately and, better still, they’re environmentally friendly as there is no paper or printing involved."
Drivers will be able to apply for a virtual permit online when the scheme goes live, however it is recognised that some residents may not have internet access so help will be provided to those who need it.
