As part of Black History Month, a festival will be held this weekend celebrating the community within Elstree & Borehamwood.

Black History Diversity Festival, organised by the E&B UNITY Network will take place at Fairway Hall on October 20 and 21.

Described as an “inter-cultural community celebration”, Mayoress of the town Martine Eni wants to bring small pockets of the town together and embrace the town’s diversity.

There will be a host of activities to enjoy including a fashion show and digital art competition as well as an animated live band, Soul Jump. Shoshana Gilmore will be showcasing her artwork after spending every Thursday since January 2017 on the streets of London meeting homeless people and handing out food and goods.

Black History Month is an annual observance that has taken place every October in the UK for 30 years. The aim is to celebrate the achievements and contributions of the black community over the years but this event is open to all races and faiths.

Tickets cost £5 for both days while a family ticket will cost £10. To buy tickets visit https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/diversity-festival-2018-community-festival-tickets-45624276439
