Police have confirmed that a 56-year-old man has died after he was hit by a train.
Emergency services were called to Elstree & Borehamwood station at 7.20pm yesterday (Monday) to reports a person had been struck by a train.
The British Transport Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene and his next of kin are aware.
Ambulances were seen in nearby Red Road in Borehamwood and an air ambulance was also spotted circling the area.
Northbound lines between London St Pancras and St Albans were blocked while the emergency services dealt with the incident.
The death is currently not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
