Elstree University Technical College was “delighted” as the college delivered another set of “excellent” results.
The college, which is based in Studio Way in Borehamwood and specialises in behind the scenes multimedia and technical arts, celebrated it’s a-level results yesterday with a host of students now set to head off to university.
Kirsty Fabiyi achieved three A* and a Distinction and will be heading off to Oxford University where she will study fine arts. She said: “I am so glad I made the switch to come to EUTC in year 10. It has given me base to excel as well as grow as a person.”
Amber Pankhurst received straight A* while Millie Woodman came away with two A* and a B.
Megan Clarke received two Distinction* and a Distinction and will be going to the Stella Mann College of Performing Arts.
Seventy-one per cent of students made expected or better progress according to their ALPS based target grades while 80pc of students received an A*-B in art and 57pc in A*-B in graphics.
In the technical and applied subject results, production arts (theatre and media makeup) saw 65pc of students achieve a D-D* and 94pc D*-M. In performing arts and musical theatre, 80pc achieved a D*-D and 96pc D*-M.
EUTC principal Chris Mitchell said: “I am absolutely delighted once again. We are seeing students attain places at prestigious leading institutions. Our specialism in film media and production technology has seen outstanding outcomes for young people who are now ready to work in the industry with a level of industry -credible specialisms and expertise, so not often available in more traditional schools.’’
