Passengers vented their fury on social media after they were left stranded at stations amid more chaos this morning.

Some city workers were stuck on platforms for nearly an hour as a raft of trains were cancelled or delayed in Radlett, St Albans, and Borehamwood.

It is a second week of turmoil for customers who were badly affected last week as well following a new timetable change, which was supposed to make services more frequent.

Madalyn Bielfeld said the situation became "dangerous" at Elstree & Borehamwood station.

She said: "It was dangerous, there were sudden platform changes, packed platforms, and packed trains. It was a bit like platform bingo at one stage."

One person tweeted: "Been standing on the Radlett platform since 7:30 - 7:41 Delayed indefinitely now platform changes wast of £350pm simply awful!!" while another man spent 50 minutes waiting at the station before giving up and going home.

At Elstree & Borehamwood station, it was no better with one passenger tweeting: "Classic @TLRailUK ruining thousands of peoples’ journeys to London this morning. Elstree and Borehamwood is station is going to burst."

And people in St Albans were no happier with one person describing the situation as a "farcical mess".

They wrote: "The Thameslink service from St Albans is a farcical mess yet again this morning. Cancelled trains, missing drivers, platform changes with no announcements, an empty trains leaving without opening the doors, broken displays on the platform."

Hertsmere MP Oliver Dowden says he will continue to contact Thameslink regarding the ongoing problems.

He said: "I have been in contact with Thameslink pressing for action to deal with the terrible disruption over the last few days.

"I know how frustrating this has been for passengers, me included. I will keep constituents updated with their response. We all know there will be teething problems with a new timetable but this has gone on too long."

Hertsmere Labour leader Jeremy Newmark has also written to Govia Thameslink and has asked for representatives from the organisation to visit Elstree & Borehamwood station and meet with residents.

Thameslink announced at 6.30am this morning that short-term timetable amendments meant that "fewer trains are able to run" leading to delays and cancellations.

It has since apologised for the issues passengers faced this morning.
