Plans to revamp former council offices into 216 new homes were rejected last night.
Applicant Healey Development Solutions’ proposals to transform Barnet House, in High Road, Whetstone, were turned down during a planning committee at Hendon Town Hall meeting.
Redevelopment of the site planned to include turning the main office building into a residential unit with an extra two storeys being added to the height.
The three-storey building at the back could have been knocked down and replaced with a new two – six storey building.
Around 1,325sqm of community, retail and commercial floor space was set to be included in the site, along with basement level car parking.
The development would have also included a total of 10 per cent of units across the site designed to be fully wheelchair accessible and 20 per cent affordable housing by units across the whole development.
