A second water main has burst on the A1.
Drivers have already been facing delays this week southbound on the A1 Barnet by-pass after the entry and exit slip road was shut at Rowley Lane after a water main burst in the early hours of Monday morning.
But now a second main has burst at the junction at Galley Lane, just north of Rowley Lane.
Affinity Water say that one lane will remain shut southbound but they have successfully repaired the second burst.
The lane closure will be in place from Trotters Bottom all the way down to Stirling Corner.
An Affinity Water spokeswoman said: “We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by two burst water mains along the A1.
“There is a burst water main along Rowley Lane, which has led to a road closure on the slip road exit for Borehamwood. Water has been restored to customers and repairs continue.
"This is a complex repair as the pipework is over 6 metres deep underground and excavations are continuing.
REMINDER: #A1 southbound exit and entry slip roads at #A5135 #Borehamwood are expected to remain closed until next week. Works to repair the water main and flood damage continues by @AffinityWater , pls follow @TfLTrafficNews for further updates. Please plan ahead.. pic.twitter.com/0eGFJWsNfN

"There is another burst water main on the Barnet-by-pass, alongside the A1 near Galley Lane. During this repair one lane will be closed heading southbound from the Trotters Bottom slip road down to the Stirling Corner roundabout.
"There may be a possibility that the lane closure can be reduced in size but this will need to be assessed as the repair continues.
“These road closures are in place to ensure the safety of our technicians and commuters in the area and we would like to thank our customers for their patience whilst these repairs are carried out."
Local routes are being affected including Stirling Way, Furzehill Road, A411, and Barnet Road, all heading into the Stirling Corner roundabout, as well as Ashley Drive and Ripon Way.
Hertfordshire County Council's roadworks website suggests that the lane closures will remain in place until February 12 while Rowley Lane won't be open to at least next week but these dates are subject to change.
Drivers are advised to visit www.affinitywater.co.uk for updates on these repairs and to sign up for text alerts.
