Drivers facing more misery after second water main bursts

Entry and exit slip remain closed after a burst water main this morning caused chaos during rush hour.

The entry and exit slip roads on the A1 southbound at A5135 Rowley Lane closed once again during the night.

Highways East have tweeted that clear-up works are being completed.

Local routes were heavily affected this morning with heavy traffic on Barnet Road towards Stirling Corner and on the A411 and Furzehill Road, as well as on the A1 itself.

However, there are long delays this evening on the A1 southbound from the Galley Lane junction while there are also long queues on Furzehill Road past Summerswood School and delays on the A411 and Barnet Road towards the Stirling Corner roundabout.

The whole southbound carriageway had been closed earlier in the night.
