A man carrying an item believed to be a gun was seen walking near two schools.
Police were called at 3.07pm to Hillside Avenue, in Borehamwood, to reports a man was seen carrying an item which was believed to be a gun.
Officers, including firearms officers, attended the area and have made thorough searches and inquiries on the ground however, the man was not located.
No one has been threatened or injured. Officers attended promptly and are making full inquiries in the area.
At this stage, no verification can be made the item was a gun and the matter has been deemed a suspicious incident.
