The community came together for a special Christmas service last weekend.

The Carols by Candlelight service was held at St Michael's & All Angels Church, in Brook Road, Borehamwood, on Saturday and was organised by the Borehamwood and Elstree Twin Town Association (BETTA).

Festive readings were made by several residents including Annie Lalova, Erika Grady, Ikenna Eni, Jill Haistead and Nick Male.

The carols sung were accompanied by Derek Holland, on organ, David Mcauliffe, on guitar and Andrew Grady on cornet.

Hazel Mcauliffe led a singing group from St Michaels & All Angels Church; who also performed additional carols at the start and end of the evening, performing a rendition of Hallelujah in memory of Leonard Cohen.

Festive snacks and drinks were provided during the interval by the association, and included seasonal offerings from both France and Germany.

Martine Eni, Chair of the BETTA said: "It was a beautiful service, with St Michael’s Church looking fabulous, enriched by hundreds of tea lights all around the church, and on the entrance path.”

Mrs Eni also added her thanks to Rev. Louse Collins, and members of St Michaels & All Angels Church, for allowing BETTA to use the church for this wonderful occasion.
