A Hertsmere Borough Councillor has resigned from the Conservative party.
Cllr David Burcombe, 73, was voted into the Conservative party in 2015 for the Cowley Hill Ward in Borehamwood.
Cath Shepherd, spokesperson at Hertsmere Borough Council, confirmed that Cllr Burcombe has resigned from the council’s Conservative Group and now acts as an independent councillor.
Cllr Burcombe said: “I have been accused of something I have not done. I have got a lot of support saying that I have not done this.
“There is evidence but it is in my favour. I am going to leave it at that.”
