A POLICE dog was the hero of the hour when he found a bag stolen from a car – and caught the people who took it.
Blue and his handler were called to North Avenue, Shenley, at 1.10am last Thursday after two cars were broken into.
The German Shephard’s nose was straight to the ground and he led his handler through a number of alleyways before finding a bag containing items stolen from the car.
But he continued along a footpath near Cox Close and managed to catch one of the suspected culprits.
He later started tracking again and found a second person in Tagalie Place.
Sergeant Vicky Stoughton from the BCH Dog Unit said: “Our dogs are chosen specifically for their excellent sense of smell, agility and temperament. These attributes make them ideally suited to assist their handlers and other officers at numerous types of incidents.”
