The new president of a rotary club has said it is an “honour” as he prepares for the coming year.
Steven McNicholas, a director at McNicholas Construction in Elstree, has been announced as the president of the Elstree and Borehamwood Rotary Club.
The 54-year-old will take over from Barbara Kennedy, who handed over the president’s chain of office at a lunch at the Radlett Park Golf Club, in Watling Street, Elstree yesterday.
Mr McNicholas, of Langley Road, Watford, said: “It is an honour. I want to attract people with a charitable agenda to join. I want to keep in touch with the community.”
He also paid tribute to his predecessor.
Mr McNicholas said: “The club has achieved a great deal under her stewardship, raising hundreds for local charities, arranging community events in the town, sending aid out to victims of natural disasters in Nepal and Vanuatu, even winning the Rotary Fellowship quiz championship.
“And always with a smile and a bit of the craic.”
