Prime Minister David Cameron’s evangelical mission to sanitise the image of his Government in office may be pleasing to some but meanwhile, back in Hertsmere, Conservative-controlled Hertfordshire County Council is still determined to remain the ‘nasty party’.
The decision to abandon the responsibility of providing the facility of Aldenham Reservoir and Country Park is a shameful betrayal of public trust by the grandees at County Hall.
In December last year, UKIP made an application under the Freedom of Information Act to expose the background to this decision.
Hertfordshire County Council has responded to our application and the information raises questions about the integrity and deception by the elected members of those who voted them into public office as the decision not to fund this facility was evidently on the drawing board prior to the elections in 2010.
UKIP are prepared to assist those who feel this public asset must be defended by taking part in the organising of a campaign to convince Hertfordshire County Council to commence a programme of public consultation.
Therefore, please contact UKIP and let us work together to save this communal asset and leisure facility for the residents of Hertsmere.
Frank Ward
Chairman and prospective parliamentary candidate for Hertsmere UKIP
