Two national sports organisation gave a project to get people over 65 more active a financial boost.
Funding of more than £160,000 from Sport England Lottery Funding, through Make Your Move programme, will enable five sports and leisure trusts across Hertfordshire to work together on the Herts Active Together scheme.
The programme will see leisure groups in the county, including Hertsmere Leisure, come together to provide bespoke and specific sports and activity sessions to encourage those over 65 to be more active and live and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Activities will run from March to December 2015 and includes aqua aerobics, ballroom dancing, badminton, swimming and gym-based rehabilitation classes.
Ian Pluck, chief executive of Hertsmere Leisure, said: “Hertsmere Leisure are proud to be involved in this unique programme, working together to deliver a programme of activities to inactive over 65s residents.
“We hope that by making these tailored physical activity and sports sessions available within the local areas will lead to more people living and maintaining a healthier lifestyle.”
