November saw a mix of choral performances and heartache as a nursery struggled to find new premises.

While Hertswood Academy pupils felt like celebrities for an evening as they performed live on Children in Need, nursery founders Debbie Moliterno and Cheryl Dagul were desperately looking for a venue that could cater for the growing nursery’s needs.

The pair formed Cheeky Monkeys nursery almost 22 years ago and it has since grown to have more than 130 children.

But the nursery faced being forced to move from its location in the former family centre, in Elstree Way.

Mrs Moliterno said: “Cheryl and I were just two mums that got together to help these children, and we don’t plan on giving up just yet. They need us and we won’t let them down.

“I’m so angry – this treatment is absolutely appalling.”

Also in November, hundreds fell silent for Remembrance Day as community groups and individuals laid wreaths at war memorials in Borehamwood, Radlett and Shenley.

There was an angry reaction after Hertfordshire County Council agreed to put alterative options in proposed bus service cuts to passengers in a second consultation.

Labour Councillor Leon Reefe, who sits on the council’s highways panel, said: “It’s a smack in the face for those people who already responded. It is clear that the people of Hertfordshire don’t want this to go through.”
