I refer to a letter from Mr Stephen Oakes-Monger in the Borehamwood & Elstree Times about painting road markings outside the closed fire station in Radlett (‘Paint cannot gloss over stupidity’, Your Views, September 12).
I have to report that Herts County Council have now tried to remove the defunct signs, incurring even more costs for the local taxpayer.
Maybe the costs should be met by a charitable donation from the chief fire officer or the chief executive, whose combined basic salary is more than £300,000.
